6 Natural Remedies for a Yeast Infection

A vaginal yeast infection is an uncomfortable condition that many women experience.  It can be quite painful and often includes itching, pain, burning and discharge.  These symptoms are usually caused by unhealthy fungus that grows in a woman’s genital area, which is warm and dark.  There are some natural remedies available to try that may alleviate itching and burning.

Probiotics
The fact that probiotics are good for your health, especially when you’re on antibiotics, is fairly common knowledge that needs to be put to good use.  You can either take a supplement or use food as medicine. Kombucha, miso, sauerkraut and probiotic yogurts are some examples of foods you might choose.

Organic garlic
You might get bad breath, but eating several fresh cloves of garlic each day can help clear up a yeast infection. Garlic has natural anti-fungal properties and is a natural antibiotic and antibacterial. Take a mint afterwards.

Organic oregano oil
This soothing oil helps reduce candida and yeast infections. Put 9 drops in a capsule and take 2-3 times daily after meals.

Cranberries
You can drink their juice (unsweetened), or eat them. They keep a healthy pH balance in the vagina, which helps fight the fungal infection.

Wear loose clothing
You don’t want to create an even more warm, moist environment for fungus, do you? Of course not.  So, wear loose-fitting clothing to keep oxygen moving and prevent fungus growth. Organic cotton is an excellent choice.

De-stress
When you get an infection, your body is not in balance. Stress can cause an excess growth of candida. Take some time out from a busy lifestyle; make it a priority. Go for nice walks, meditate or practice yoga. You’ll find what’s good for you. Make sure to visit with your doctor before starting treatment. The symptoms of a yeast infection might be similar to another condition, possibly more serious.
